Apple founder hits out at Elon Musk: ‘Teslas are trying to kill you’

Opinions about Elon Musk are divided. Some think he’s a genius, others think he’s crazy. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak hints at what he thinks of the Tesla CEO in an interview about artificial intelligence.

Wozniak founded Apple in 1977 with Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne. The 72-year-old engineer was interviewed by CNN about AI. Wozniak and several other big names in the tech industry have issued an open letter warning of the dangers of artificial intelligence and even suggesting a pause in AI development.

Warning against the use of AI by Elon Musk and Co

According to the letter, “AI developers are engaged in a spiraling battle to create the best digital brains that no one, not even the creators, can control.” In the interview, Steve Wozniak puts the fear into perspective seems to be, and the Apple founder simply argues that there should be regulation that should limit the smaller sides of this new technology.

Elon Musk also signed this open letter, which prompted CNN to ask Steve Wozniak for his opinion on Elon Musk. Wozniak has never met Tesla’s CEO but says he admires how Tesla has managed to steer the masses towards electric cars. However, the Apple founder is also very critical. “I believed a lot of what he said, but the reality didn’t even come close to him,” says a slightly morose Steve Wozniak of the promises made by Elon Musk about the various Tesla models.

“Tesla shows how artificial intelligence can fail”

“By the end of 2016, a Tesla could be driving around the country autonomously, and I believed in that. When I bought this model, it turned out that nothing was right and I had to buy a newer model.” According to the Apple founder, Elon Musk made a lot of money from it. Wozniak is therefore not affectionate towards the carmaker. “If you want to see up close how AI can fail and take every opportunity to kill you, buy a Tesla,” says Wozniak, as you hear people chuckling in the background in the TV studio.
