BMW is the brand for driving enthusiasts and the M models are the superlatives. More horsepower isn’t always better. Perhaps the most beautiful M model is the entry-level BMW M2 Coupé. Precisely because of its compact dimensions.

Incidentally, there is nothing wrong with the power of the new BMW M2 Coupé either. In its latest form, the model has no less than 338 kW (460 hp) and 550 Nm, which comes from the same 3.0-liter straight-six that is also found in the big brother M4. In fact, the M2 has actually only become a shrunken M4 in other respects. The car reaches 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and the top speed is the standard 250 km/h. Good news for those who like to shift gears themselves: an eight-speed automatic transmission comes as standard, with a six-speed manual transmission available as an option.

Prices BMW M2 Coupé

A new BMW M isn’t cheap, and neither is a BMW M2 Coupé. Prices start at 114,938 euros. If you want to change it yourself, it costs 119,375 euros. Not bad, also thanks to at least 38,954 euros alone in bpm. Nevertheless, it is still the “cheapest” thoroughbred M model that you can buy new.

Equipment BMW M2 Coupé

You get a lot back for that amount. The sporty characteristics are made possible, for example, by the adaptive M suspension and the active M sport differential. M compound disc brakes ensure you stop in time. In addition, an M exhaust system provides a nice soundtrack and M Drive Professional makes it possible to adapt the drive train to the respective situation.

A new BMW is also well prepared in other respects, which is no different with the M2 Coupé. Things like cruise control, leather interiors, the BMW Curved Display and extensive infotainment are simply present, as well as a good audio system.

Assembling the BMW M2 Coupé

Time to put together the new BMW M2 Coupé according to your wishes. The M2 is only available in one engine variant and one version, so we quickly finished with the first steps of the configurator. The only option is the gearbox where we opt for the manual gearbox.

The BMW M2 Coupé is available in five colours. White is standard, but this is very white. Black, grey, red and light blue are available for a surcharge of 1,050 euros. Black is beautiful and spooky, gray and red suit him very well too, but we’re going for blue. Just because of the name of the colour: M Zandvoort Blue.

As standard, the BMW M2 Coupé rolls on black rims measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. The rims are completely black as standard, which in our opinion looks very good. Those who are less interested can get the rims in a polished two-tone finish for 213 euros.

The interior is lined with black Alcantara and Sensatec as standard. If you want real leather, you can do that too. Then you can choose from black, cognac and black with M accents. These are available as an option in the configurator at no extra cost, but please note that electrically adjustable M sport seats are also included. This brings the surcharge to 2,827 euros. We were planning on ticking these anyway. We rely on black upholstery with M accents. We are also replacing the standard black inner frames with carbon copies (1,056 euros). Another option is anthracite with a sporty motif (320 euros).

Packages and Options

We also order the M Driver’s Pack. That costs 2,795 euros and brings the top speed of the BMW M2 Coupé to 285 km/h. You can also complete BMW M Race Track driver training from BMW Driving Experience Slotemakers. The €9,614 M Race Track Pack, which notably adds a carbon-fiber roof to previously selected options, is left alone for a while.

Then the individual options. For extra dark accents, we choose the M high-gloss Shadow Line exterior elements (107 euros) and the M headlights Shadow Line (267 euros). The latter also includes the high-beam assistant (170 euros). Fine. We also check the M seat belts (320 euros), as well as extra tinted rear windows (378 euros), steering wheel heating (213 euros), the Harman Kardon audio system (586 euros), Comfort Access (also 586 euros) and the parking assistant (640 euros).

Then we actually have almost everything on it. The only things that have not yet been checked (apart from options previously discussed) are delivery without type designation (free option, but why would you want that on an M2?), red brake calipers (320 euros), active cruise control (640 euros), Driving Assistant (908 euros), sliding/tilting roof (1,014 euros), BMW Live Cockpit Professional (1,120 euros) and M carbon bucket seats (5,338 euros).

Assemble the new BMW M2 Coupé yourself

The bottom line is that the BMW M2 Coupé we put together costs 130,894 euros. Big bucks, that’s for sure, but the premium over the standard M2 isn’t too bad.
