The 8th generation Ford Mustang is the most powerful ever, still with V8

Ford lifts the curtain on a new old friend: the Mustang. The eighth generation also gets a V8 with a displacement of 5.0 liters under the hood. In fact, the special Mustang Dark Horse is the most powerful ever – developed exclusively by Ford and without the help of Shelby.

The eighth generation Mustang is not only available with the big V8. A four-cylinder will also come onto the market. This delivers 315 hp and 475 Nm of torque.

But as a true fan of American Muscle, of course you want the V8 of the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, with 500 hp and 567 Nm of torque.

The engine of this Dark Horse is equipped with reinforced camshafts. Ford does this to improve the car’s durability on the track. The roar only stops at 7500 rpm.

V8 also with slightly less power

Although the Ford Mustang Dark Horse is the absolute top model in the upcoming line-up, the model below also makes the hearts of petrolheads beat faster. The GT also has the 5.0-liter V8 on board. That’s good for 480 hp. If you choose an active exhaust system to wake up the neighborhood, you’ll get 6 more horsepower. Whichever drivetrain you choose, power is always sent to the rear wheels.

“Mustang has always pushed boundaries. From the Mustang GT to the Dark Horse, this is our best 5.0-liter V8 yet,” said Ed Krenz, Mustang chief engineer.

Prices are not yet known

The eighth generation Ford Mustang will be available in the US market in summer 2023. It is not yet known when the Dutch market launch will follow. The prices are still unclear. The current Ford Mustang is available from 115,175 euros for the 5.0-liter V8 with ten-speed automatic transmission. As a company, we can thank the buyers of a Mustang. 57,010 euros of which 115,175 euros go to BPM for the state treasury.
