For sale! This unique Ferrari Enzo wasted in the jungle

Matt lacquered. Either you love it or you hate it. We’re clearly in the latter camp, so this Ferrari Enzo appeals less to us. He is unique because his Pininfarina carriage is not wrapped but has a special Ferrari livery. Who had a hard time in the Borneo jungle.

You can now order a Ferrari in all the colors of the rainbow as long as you pay. At the turn of the century this was less self-evident. Most Ferrari Enzos are red, yellow, or black. Only a handful are available in other colors: white, gray, and blue.

Ferrari Enzo commissioned by the royal family

This Enzo for sale at RM Sotheby’s is one of a kind. It was ordered by a loyal Ferrari customer, the royal family of Brunei. In the 1990s, the Sultan of Brunei and his brother spent millions on custom Ferraris like the Mythos, the FX, the F90 and the 456 GT Venice.

RM Sotheby’s has not revealed who exactly is behind this matte black Enzo. The auction text only mentions “a member of the royal family of Brunei”. He (or she) chose the color Nero Opaco with a matching booth in Nero. Funny detail, the buyer was obviously on the portly side, because Ferrari fitted wider seats in this Enzo on request.

Had a hard life in the Borneo jungle

The hypercar spent its early years in London, where the oil-rich royal family has a home. The Enzo was later put on a plane to Brunei, where it appears to have had a difficult life. The Sultan of Brunei and his brother have huge parking garages in the sweltering jungle air for their collection of thousands of sports cars.

According to reports, the mostly unique cars are in terrible condition. Stories are circulating on the internet of people who went into the garages and found a collection that was completely derelict. The high humidity and constant heat of the tropical region in which Brunei is located is not good for cars.

Ferrari Enzo

This Ferrari Enzo is now eighteen years old but has already undergone an extensive restoration. The body was completely repainted, the “melted” interior buttons were replaced and the front and rear light units affected by the sunlight were also revised. A total of 110,000 euros was spent on the Ferrari.

Atmospheric twelve-cylinder with 660 hp

And it was worth it. A “normal” Enzo already fetches between 2 and 4 million euros at an auction, so a one-off will cost even more. It is Ferrari’s last hypercar without electric assistance. The Enzo is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 with 660 hp, which transmits its power to the rear wheels via an automated manual transmission.
