The Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato creates its own desert

Okay, the headline is boring. We’re referring to the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato’s high emissions and global warming. But it is precisely its atmospheric V10 that makes the revamped Lambo so special. After all, the successor to the Huracán will have a hybrid V8.

With the Huracán Sterrato, Lamborghini says goodbye to its already legendary power source. The 5.2-litre V10 is known for its heavenly soundtrack that still gives us goosebumps to this day. But alas… a naturally breathing ten-cylinder is no longer possible in these eco-conscious times. That’s why the successor to the Huracán will have a V8 with hybrid support.

Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato limited edition

Only a limited number of Lamborghini buyers will still be able to enjoy the old-school V10, as no more than 1499 examples of the Huracán Sterrato will be built.

That’s a lot less than what Porsche produces from the comparable 911 Dakar (2500). We assume that a significant part of the Sterrato edition has already been sold.

Italian sports car on stilts 4.4 centimeters high

Like the Porsche 911 Dakar, the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato is a sports car on stilts. It stands 4.4 centimeters higher on the wheels and has a 3 centimeter wider track at the front and rear. Its underside is protected against stone chips with an aluminum plate. The V10 breathes through a rooftop snorkel to minimize dust pickup.

Relatively low top speed to save tires

The block is 610 hp and 560 Nm strong and coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. You don’t have to buy the Sterrato for top speed, however; its all-terrain tires only last up to 260 km/h. A “normal” Huracán drives well over 300 km/h. The acceleration of the Sterato is comparable. It reaches 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Compared to the Huracán Evo, the Sterrato has one more driving mode: Rally. Its 19-inch wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler AT002 tires with run-flat technology. In the event of a flat tyre, you can drive another 80 kilometers at a speed of up to 80 km/h. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard on the Sterrato.

Bike or surfboard on the roof of your Lambo

The model cannot be overlooked. A Huracán is always full of drama, but in the case of the new Sterrato, the designers have also poured an adventurous sauce over it. Its black wheel arch extensions are nailed to the body, there are two additional headlights on the nose as standard and you can take your bike or surfboard with you on the small roof racks.
