Abarth shows electric 500e!

Abarth pulls the curtain on the all-electric 500e. The small city car is the fastest Abarth ever to accelerate on the intermediate sprint, even faster than the 695.

Compared to the 695 – and the other previous models – the EV lacks one important aspect: a real engine sound. After all, the small power packs are known for their engine and exhaust sound.

Really wrong engine sound

But the Abarth 500e continues to roar. The sound of a combustion engine is simulated using a sound generator.

In addition to real engine sound, there is another aspect that purists shouldn’t miss with their Abarth: a gearbox. After all, the previous versions were also available with automatic transmission. Although it’s a pity to opt for this somewhat slow gearbox. The manual gearbox is much nicer.

Enough of the previous models. A gearbox is therefore no longer part of the drive train. An electric motor with 113 kW (154 hp) and 235 Nm of torque works on the front axle. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds and is 50 percent faster than the Abarth 696 when sprinting from 20 to 40 km/h.

The electric motor is connected to a battery pack that is good for 42 kWh. How far you can drive it is currently unknown. The battery pack charges at a maximum speed of 85 kW on the fast charger. According to the Italians, this means that you can recharge about 50 kilometers of electricity in 5 minutes.

Soon we will tell you more about the 500e, for example the interior and exterior. Keep an eye on Autovisie.nl and YouTube for the latest updates on the sporty electric city car and other cars.
