Consumer association: “Citroën is the most unreliable car brand in the Netherlands”

Consumer association: “Citroën is the most unreliable car brand in the Netherlands”

The stereotypes are true. At least that’s the result of a study by the consumer advice center that looked at the reliability of cars and brands. French is not good. At the top are Japanese and South Koreans.

Let’s start positively: what are the cars with the fewest problems? At the top of the list is the Mitsubishi ASX with a score of 9.3. Only 1 percent of owners collapsed in the past year. Less serious problems are rare.

Renault Scénic is by far the most unreliable car

Other reliable cars include the Mazda CX-3 (9.2), the new Peugeot 208 (9.1), the current Volkswagen Polo (9.1) and the Suzuki Celerio (9.0). The worst is the Renault Scénic (2012 – 2015) with a dramatic 1.0. Also not good is the Renault Mégane (2012 – 2016) with a 2.2.

Citroën at the bottom of the reliability list

But Renault is not the least scoring brand. This is Citroën, with a meager six. Just above that are Fiat, Ford and Renault with 6.1. What is striking in the list is that Lexus does not end up at the top. In international surveys, the Japanese premium brand is usually the front runner, but not here. He shares eighth place with Kia (grade: 7.5).

The top 3 are only filled with Japanese car brands

The most reliable brands come as no surprise. Suzuki leads the ranking with an excellent score of 8.5. Mitsubishi and Subaru are just behind Suzuki at 8.4 and 8.3, respectively. Toyota (7.9) is at four, so it’s another Japanese party. The consumer association therefore bases its research on a simple conclusion: buy Japanese or Korean goods.
