The new Porsche Taycan is even better, but there’s a reason not to buy the electric vehicle
Five years ago, the Porsche Taycan caused a shock among brand fans. But he turned out to be shockingly good because of his high numbers. From now on he can do everything at the highest level.
When this electric Porsche was introduced at the end of 2019, it came as a bit of a shock to many. The sacred sports car brand provoked its followers, but they apparently quickly got used to it. Since then, almost 150,000 units have been produced in Zuffenhausen.

Most of the development money was spent on electrical engineering with batteries, which have a net capacity of 82.3 kWh and 97 kWh, respectively. Both NMC batteries are around 10 kWh larger than before and also have a higher energy density. The large battery is standard in some variants, while in others there is an option called Performance Battery Plus that costs around 6,000 euros. Speaking of finances: The Porsche Taycan has become between 6,000 and 10,000 euros more expensive, depending on the version.
Prices start at 107,000 euros for the 408 hp rear-wheel drive version, followed by the 4S with 544 hp and 126,800 euros, the Turbo with 884 hp for 183,000 euros, the Turbo S with 952 hp for 219,000 euros and the Turbo GT with 1,108 hp. for 250,000 euros. Everything is significantly more powerful than before, up to 190 hp more. The Turbo GT is also available (at no extra charge!) with the Weissach package, a track version including a stripped interior and a large rear wing. This prestige model has already set records on the Nordschleife and in Laguna Seca.
Lots of facts and figures in this update, but how does the new Porsche Taycan feel? Definitely familiar inside, despite new layouts for the instruments, including information about the current loading speed. The multimedia system has a relatively compact screen by today’s standards with the main topics on the left side. The underlying menus are quite simple and therefore easy to understand. There is also an excellent, low driving position with excellent seats. The rear isn’t very spacious for the size of the sedan, but at 1.80 meters you’re fine.

score
Positive
- Perfect ending
- Basic version already strong enough
- Nice sitting position
Negatives
- Tires clearly audible
- Valuable
- High loss of value
Very wide delivery program. With the right options, an insanely competent sports sedan and a GT like no other. This applies to both the basic version and the insane Turbo GT with Weissach package. But the top versions are by no means necessary for the Porsche feeling.
