Hyundai stops fuel engines due to N labeling, that remains

Hyundai will stop supplying sporty N models with petrol engines in Europe. After the first half of this year, only N models with a plug will be delivered on our continent.
This means very little for the Netherlands. The N models with combustion engines cannot be ordered here either. However, there are still a Hyundai i20 and i30 N on the price list in Belgium.
Hyundai N without petrol engines
The Korean manufacturer tells Motor1 Deutschland that it will discontinue the petrol N models in Europe. The label will not be abolished, but will remain for electric cars.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
Hyundai’s first N without a petrol engine will be the Ioniq 5 N. The electric car has two electric motors that together produce 650 hp peak power and 609 hp continuous power. The torque is 740 Nm. The hatchback sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 260 kilometers per hour.

If you control your right foot, a range of 448 kilometers is possible. The electric vehicle has a battery with a net capacity of 80 kWh. Due, among other things, to the large battery pack, the Hyundai weighs 2,310 kilograms. This means it won’t be a light-footed hot hatch like the i30 N, for example.
Nevertheless, it should be a lot of driving fun. Among other things, due to drift modes, simulated shift points, an electronic limited-slip differential and more torsional rigidity than the normal Ioniq 5. It remains to be seen whether the electric car is really as fun as the Koreans promise. If you would like to stay up to date on a future electric vehicle test, subscribe to the Autovisie newsletter.

The price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is just under 74,000 euros. Do you want to know everything about the model? Then read the price list here.
i30 N
Although Hyundai’s N label continues to have to forego petrol engines, the i30 is still available for sale as a used car. In the video below, Autovisie editor Peter Hilhorst compares this model with the Ford Focus ST. Which is the best?
