To call an electric car that costs over 40,000 euros cheap is perhaps going a bit far. But the Tesla Model Y has now experienced so many price cuts that it is making it very difficult for the competition.
Let’s look back to 2021. Back then we drove the Model Y for the first time. The price was at least 65,010 euros. This base price is not fully comparable to the current starting price. At the beginning only the Long Range was offered.
Tesla Model Y cheaper
They bought the same Tesla Model Y Long Range two years later for 54 grand. A price drop of over 10,000 euros! Now the Y is even cheaper!

The Long Range now costs 50,993 euros. The standard range costs 43,993 euros. Compared to last year (from November), the starting price has fallen by another 1,000 euros. The Long Range is three grand cheaper compared to the previous price cut.
The Tesla Model Y Performance was also further reduced. The model’s previous price reduction was just under 60 grand and is now at a starting price of 56,993 euros.
The Model Y is already the best-selling car in the Netherlands. This price reduction makes competition even more difficult. How much can Elon Musk lower the prices of his cars?
