This flying car will be delivered next year

Flying cars, that sounds like the future. Still, automaker Xpeng suggests we could see the first modular air car on the road and in the air by the end of 2025.

The press release states that the car can be ordered in the fourth quarter of 2024 and will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025. The word “car” gives a distorted picture of what it actually is.

Modular car

The vehicle is currently called the “Land Aircraft Carrier”. This means nothing except that it is a car with a drone-like aircraft inside. So you can’t leave by car. The vehicle was built by Aeroht, a subsidiary of Xpeng that focuses on flying cars.

While it may not be the flying car you’d expect, it’s still an impressive device. The electric car itself offers space for up to five people and is a 6×6. The EV has rear-wheel steering as an option.

According to Xpeng, the large drone is easy to fly and even has an autopilot. There is space for two people in the cabin. The Chinese manufacturer has not yet announced how far you can drive and fly with the vehicles.

The real flying car

In addition to the modular car, the brand is also showing a real flying car. This is still called the eVtol Flying Car today. eVtol stands for electric vertical takeoff and landing. Little is known about the model.

It’s very surreal that a flying car is coming to market soon. It remains to be seen whether Xpeng can keep its promises. Want to stay up to date on developments around taking off cars? Then subscribe to the Autovisie newsletter.
