The new Dutch EV is an affordable and lightweight sports car

This new Carice TC2 is a Dutch-made electric car with Spyker and Porsche features for relatively little money. Its extremely low weight gives hope that it will also be an easy-to-steer electric car.

When we talk about Dutch sports cars, you immediately think of Spyker or the new DeBruyn. The only Spyker used car in the Netherlands costs a fortune and you also pay over 600,000 euros for the DeBruyn Ferox V8. This Carice TC2, on the other hand, is reasonably affordable.

Affordable electric car from the Netherlands

We still wouldn’t call the EV cheap, but the new price of 53,854 euros is more manageable than the price tags dangling from the sports cars mentioned above.

A relatively low price for a very small car. The Carice TC2 is 3.54 meters long, 1.58 meters wide and 1.22 meters high. The design inspiration for this electric car seems to have been taken from classic Porsches and the interior reminds us of our compatriot Spyker.

EV of 590 kilograms

Its compact size ensures a particularly low curb weight of just 590 kilograms. Combined with rear-wheel drive, this seems to be a recipe for an easy-to-steer car.

Its peak performance of 54 hp is nothing to sneeze at. Even with its low weight, it sounds a bit disappointing for a two-seater with sporty requirements.

Range of the Carice TC2

Unfortunately, the range of this electric car is not huge due to its low weight and limited power. With its 31.5 kWh battery, the Carice TC2 can travel around 300 kilometers. The Standard rangeThe version of this electric vehicle with a smaller battery can only travel 200 kilometers on a single charge. Maybe the driving characteristics make up for it a bit, but it’s certain that with this range it’ll be a while before you get it up the twisty mountain passes to test it out.

It’s easy to forget that you can buy the recently revised, more powerful Tesla Model 3 with more than 200 kilometers more range for just over ten thousand euros less. These are two electric cars that serve different purposes.

This fact makes it clear that the highly customizable Carice TC2 is a car for enthusiasts. The first models will be delivered next year.
