Don’t be alarmed. This is neither the new Porsche 911 nor a restomod. This Porsche 911 with pop-up headlights is a rendering by Glen Cordle and is therefore only a digital work of art.
Pop-up headlights are no longer manufactured today. At least if you don’t count the Volvo EX90.
Pop-up headlights on a Porsche 911
Pop-up headlights, such as those you know from the Mazda MX-5, Honda NSX or Volvo 480, are not produced because the upright light units are unsafe for pedestrians and other vulnerable road users in the event of a collision. Still, many enthusiasts find the design feature cool.

Porsche is also no stranger to pop-up headlights. For example, the 914 and 944 had folding lamps and the 928 also had special lighting at the front, although the lamps differ from the other two models.
The 992nd
The Porsche 911 never had pop-up headlights (unless one from Flachbau), and that was a good choice by the manufacturer. If you replace the oval lamps of the 992 with fold-away lamps, the model takes on a sad appearance.

Although the lights resemble those of a Honda NSX, the artist notes that the NSX, Mazda RX-7, Corvette and Toyota MR2 have all been omitted from this rendering.
