Dive into the price list: the Renau… er, Mitsubishi Colt

After the Mitsubishi ASX (Renault Captur), Mitsubishi is now also delivering its own version of the Renault Clio: the Mitsubishi Colt. A familiar name returns. Today we’ll get to know each other again by taking a look at the price list.

Mitsubishi is leaving Europe. Oh no, don’t. Instead, many models were removed from the European range. Only the Space Star and the Eclipse Cross remain, the latter only as a plug-in hybrid. Two models specifically designed for Europe are back: the new ASX and now the new Mitsubishi Colt. Well, new, we already know these models as Renault’s Captur and Clio.

Differences Mitsubishi Colt and Renault Clio

Although the new Mitsubishi Colt is mainly a Renault Clio with different logos, there is still a small difference. For example, the Colt is available with a 49 kW (65 hp) 1.0-liter three-cylinder entry-level engine, which is not available for the Clio. Another important difference is in the area of warranty: Renault offers two years (optionally three), while Mitsubishi gives you an eight-year manufacturer’s warranty (five years plus extended warranty as standard). At Mitsubishi, however, there is a lower kilometer limit: up to 100,000 km instead of unlimited in the first two years (or up to 150,000 km in the third year) at Renault.

There are also some differences in the standard equipment, but they are not really big. With 16-inch steel wheels for the Colt instead of 17-inch alloy wheels for the Clio, we think you’ve made the most important difference.

Engines Mitsubishi Colt

The base engine of the Mitsubishi Colt is the 1.0-liter three-cylinder with 49 kW (65 hp). Like the Clio, the turbo version of this engine produces 67 kW (90 hp). Both engines are mated to a manual transmission, with five speeds for the entry-level version and six for the turbo version. The 105 kW (145 hp) hybrid version of the Clio can also be found in the Colt.

Prices Mitsubishi Colt

Another advantage of the Mitsubishi Colt over the Renault Clio: a lower starting price. The Colt is available from 21,990 euros, the Clio costs at least 22,950 euros. Apart from the engine and wheels, they have comparable standard equipment to make up for this difference. Mitsubishi will cost you 24,990 euros for the more powerful engine, but you will then immediately move up one equipment level. Conversely, the entry-level engine is only available in a basic version. The hybrid drive costs 27,990 euros for the Colt and is available for the Clio from 25,820 euros.

Standard equipment Mitsubishi Colt

This time we’ll stick with the absolute basic version, as it differs the most from the Renault. What do we get as standard on the Mitsubishi Colt? The most important: 16-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, air conditioning, heated exterior mirrors, fabric upholstery, 7-inch digital instruments, 7-inch central touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. When it comes to assistance, you can count on cruise control, emergency braking assistant, lane guidance and traffic sign recognition, among other things.

Outdoor decoration

The color palette of the Mitsubishi Colt is quite average. White is the default color. For an additional charge of 600 euros you can choose between black, dark gray and dark blue. The dark red presentation color costs 800 euros extra. We choose blue.

Interior decoration

There is no choice here: the standard black fabric upholstery remains. Fine.

Separate options

Mitsubishi does not offer any individual options. The level of luxury on board is entirely determined by the choice of equipment. This is very common these days, especially in this segment. The idea is that this will make the production process easier and give the customer a clearer overview of the possibilities.

Assemble the Mitsubishi Colt yourself

After purely checking the color, the total price for our Mitsubishi Colt is 22,590 euros. That’s still (slightly) cheaper than a completely standard Renault Clio.
