Dear Sinterklaas, we would like new pajamas and this Mazda

We lay on the floor for hours and read the Intertoys and Bart Smit catalog with our noses. Now our Sinterklaas wishes are more functional. At least partially. Because in addition to new pajamas, we also want these great toys from Mazda.
The Iconic SP doesn’t fit through the chimney, so perhaps Sinterklaas can leave it on our doorstep on December 5th. Because this concept car makes us very greedy.
Mazda Iconic SP
Mazda introduced it at the Tokyo Auto Show, where it was joined by several generations of the MX-5. There are definitely similarities between the Roadster and the Iconic SP.

With range extender
Both are compact and relatively light. The Iconic SP is electric (how could it be otherwise these days?) and has an internal combustion engine on board as a range extender.

Just like the MX-30 R-EV, this is a Wankel engine. One that, according to Mazda, runs on CO2-neutral fuel. The Iconic SP is not a hybrid as it is powered only by its electric motor(s).

We include these brackets intentionally because it is unknown whether the MX-30 R-EV has one or two engines. Mazda states that the sports car has 370 hp.
Alfa Romeo 8C
And what a beautiful sports car it is! In the beautiful design we see features of the Alfa Romeo 8C, but at the same time the Iconic SP is typically Mazda.

Of course, we don’t know how the study model drives, but the fact that it has a 50:50 weight distribution is a good sign. Let’s hope Mazda dares to bring the Iconic SP into production.
