Ferrari’s new model does not meet all environmental requirements

Normally Ferrari is very strict when it comes to revelations. If a car is shown on a specific date, nothing can be leaked in advance. In this case, Ferrari decides to preview the new model: the 296 Challenge. And this car does not have to meet any environmental regulations.

As an aficionado, you know the 296 line from the Maranello brand. There’s the GTB, the GTS and last year there was even a GT3. Like the GT3, the Challenge was also developed for the race track.

The Ferrari 296 Challenge does not have to meet any environmental requirements, such as the GTB. The car was developed for use in Ferrari’s own racing class.

The car isn’t a regular 296, but it features all sorts of aerodynamic and downforce improvements. The track beast has a huge spoiler, a big bumper lip and a big diffuser. The Italians promise that the circuit racer will have over 870 kilograms of downforce at 250 kilometers per hour when the rear wing is turned to its maximum.

No electrical support

Behind the front seats is a 3.0-liter V6, which also produces 700 hp and 740 Nm in the GTB. The road-legal brother of the Ferrari 296 Challenge has more power thanks to electrical support: 830 hp.
