“Electric cars are expensive” is a common complaint. Since we prefer to think in terms of possibilities rather than problems, we are looking for a cheap electric car. We find a convertible as an almost new used car for under 15,000 euros.
You hardly see electric convertibles anymore. It’s available from Mini, the Fiat and Abarth 500e can be ordered and MG comes with the Cyberster. However, only a few cars can be found as used cars without a fixed roof.
Affordable electric car
Nevertheless, we can find an electric car as a used car with a convertible roof. It’s a Citroën E-Mehari. The car has a battery with a capacity of 30 kWh, which allows you to travel a maximum of 100 kilometers on country roads and a maximum of 200 kilometers in the city. So not a large range, although of course not everyone needs that. The charging speed is also not comparable to newer electric vehicles. The used car can be charged with a maximum of 3.7 kW.

So you shouldn’t want to drive too much and leave your cheap electric convertible at a charging station for a long time. Does the Citroen E-Mehari have any other restrictions? Yes. First of all, the speed. With a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour, it can’t really be called fast and its weight of 1285 kilograms makes driving on the beach less easy than with the original Mehari. Another disadvantage of this cheap electric car is safety. In the crash test, the convertible did not get the top score.
The convertible used car
Enough disadvantages of the Citroën E-Mehari. Above all, it is a beautiful look that you can buy for not too much money. We find a used car for just under 15,000 euros. The electric car is from 2016 and, according to the speedometer, has almost 7,000 kilometers of experience. In short, almost new – if you forget the year of manufacture.

Please note that the car was imported in 2018 and therefore the mileage is registered in our country only from 2018. Although this does not necessarily mean that the mileage is incorrect, for imported vehicles you should pay particular attention to whether the mileage is correct.
