Every Rolls-Royce is quiet, but you really don’t hear the electric Specter

Every Rolls-Royce is quiet, but you really don’t hear the electric Specter

Rolls-Royce does not want a hybrid. The British luxury manufacturer calls it a compromise. Directly on the electric drive was not the intention, because the technology had to be good enough for the extremely demanding Rolls-Royce customers. And apparently it is now, because here is the Rolls-Royce Specter EV.

Judging by the photos, Rolls-Royce took the Wraith as the basis for its first electric car. The Rolls-Royce Specter looks like two drops of champagne on the two-door coupe, but has been made “rounder” in the search for the least possible drag. For comparison: The Specter has a drag coefficient of 0.25. This makes the 5.5 meter long Rolls as smooth-running as a third-generation Toyota Prius (2009 – 2015).

Rolls-Royce Specter weighs almost 3000 kilos

Because of course the Specter is a big boy. It has a wheelbase of 3.2 meters, is over 2 meters wide and weighs almost 3000 kilos. Well, a Rolls-Royce has always been heavy, but the Specter will have become even heavier with its huge battery.

Rolls-Royce doesn’t state how many kWh are available, but if we look at the high WLTP consumption of 21.5 kWh/100 km and the range of 520 kilometers, that’s one and two.

From a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds

Historically, Rolls-Royce has never given up a fortune. You don’t talk about something so vulgar, thought Goodwood. Journalists who asked about horsepower were answered that the power was “sufficient”. Those days are over though, as we know the numbers for the Specter.

It is good for 585 hp and 900 Nm. If you let yourself go – which a gentleman hardly ever does – you can reach 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

With a starting price of around 500,000 euros

The Rolls-Royce Specter seats four people. It can be ordered immediately (important consumer notice) at an unknown price. All Rolls-Royce says about it is that the Specter will fall between the Cullinan and the Phantom.

That means it will cost around 500,000 euros. The first units will be delivered to customers in the fourth quarter of 2023.
