More tears, Lamborghini says goodbye to key powertrain

After the bad news about the Fiesta, there is more sad news. This time for those enthusiasts who have more to spend. Lamborghini says goodbye to the internal combustion engine. In fact, the last Lamborghini with a pure combustion engine has already been sold.

This decision means that the order books for the all-gasoline Huracán and Urus models are closed. Hybrid models will continue to be sold.

Lamborghini says goodbye to the petrol engine

It was to be expected that this decision would come at some point. Now the CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, confirms it in the German newspaper Welt.

Lamborghini Urus Performante Essenza SCV12, do not buy

Although the order books are closed, it will still be some time before the production of Lamborghinis with internal combustion engines is phased out. After all, the ordered cars still have to be built.

The Italian super sports car manufacturer is therefore moving more towards electrification and will invest 1.8 billion euros in the production of an all-electric product range and the development of all-electric models by 2024.

Urus plug-in hybrid

Not much is currently known about the hybrid Urus. The 4.0-liter V8 will reportedly remain twin-turbocharged, but an electric motor will be added. The power would be around 820 hp.
