Since April 2018, there is no trace of former Tengelmann boss Karl-Erivan Haub. Did he die in a crevasse, lead a double life with ties to Russian intelligence – or did he run away with his lover? There are countless rumors surrounding Haub’s mysterious disappearance.
RTL and Stern investigative reporter Liv von Boetticher investigated the case. She is in possession of documents that should prove that Haub was in hiding in Moscow. The public prosecutor’s office of Cologne pricked up the ears, reports ntv.
Russian couple observed studies
After the reporter had access to the family’s investigative documents, Liv von Boetticher is convinced that Haub was not in an accident: “For example, an internal document states that the probability of a mountain accident a week after the disappearance was only five percent.”
According to the reporter, the “most extensive search and rescue operation on the Matterhorn to date” has been carried out. But nothing was found.
However, there were also mysterious scenes. “A dubious couple turned up in Zermatt and observed the coordination of the rescue measures at the hotel, where the family and internal investigators were staying,” says the journalist. “These people were later assigned to the Russian secret service by internal investigators.”
Even the two US secret services, the FBI and the CIA, got involved and thoroughly searched the area. Haub was an American citizen. “The investigators commissioned by Tengelmann suspect that he may have been targeted by US authorities because of his dubious contacts with Russia,” the reporter said. Haub would have had contact with Russian money launderers.
Muscovites want to see the German
The reporting team also saw images of Haub that would come from the biometric surveillance system in Moscow. Whether they are counterfeits remains to be seen. But: residents of Moscow also want to see the billionaire.
In addition, there should be another indication of the authenticity of the photos – it comes from the brother of the disappeared. “Christian Haub had promised the internal investigators a very large sum if they provided evidence of Haub’s death or continuation of his life. Evidence that can also be verified by third parties and is judicial evidence,” explains Boetticher. an amount already to be paid Christian Haub does not comment on this.
Based on the new findings, the Cologne public prosecutor’s office now wants to check whether the death certificate for Karl-Erivan Haub should be lifted. (lia)
