After more than six days of deliberation, twelve jurors delivered their verdict in Los Angeles on Wednesday. They found Masterson guilty of the 2003 rape of two women, prosecutors said. In a third case of allegations of rape by another woman, the jury was unable to agree on a unanimous verdict.
The sentence will be announced in early August. Prosecutors say Masterson faces a prison sentence of 30 years to life imprisonment.
It was the second case against the actor. The previous criminal trial ended in November without result. The twelve jurors were then unable to reach a unanimous verdict. The responsible judge then declared a so-called mistrial. The prosecution reopened the case.
Masterson has always denied the allegations. All sexual acts were consensual, the actor claimed. (sda/dpa)
