Jam Master Jay (1965-2002) of the American hip-hop band Run-DMC was shot dead 20 years ago. Another man suspected of being responsible for his death has now been charged.

More than 20 years after the death of Jam Master Jay (1965-2002) of the American hip-hop band Run-DMC, a third suspect has been charged in the case.

According to media reports, the 49-year-old is also accused of involvement in the shooting of the musician, whose real name was Jason Mizell.

Two other men had previously been charged with the murder of Jam Master Jay at his Queens studio in October 2002 during a dispute over a drug deal.

The murder of Jam Master Jay remained a mystery for many years and was initially attributed, among other things, to a “rap war” between the west and east coasts of the United States. The murders of rappers like Tupac Shakur (1971-1996) and Notorious BIG (1972-1997) have also never been solved. Run-DMC is credited with pioneering hip hop in the United States. (SDA)
