In addition, there were house searches in 10 of the 16 states on Wednesday morning, according to the federal prosecutor’s office. It involved a financing network of the IS.

According to the information, four people were arrested in North Rhine-Westphalia, one more in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Bremen. The country’s highest prosecuting authority accuses the men and women – mainly German nationals – of supporting a terrorist organization.

According to information from the dpa, the background to the raid is fundraising for suspected supporters of the terror militia IS. The social media campaigns with titles such as ‘Your sister in the camp’ have been running for several years. They serve to provide financial support to IS women living in Syria with their children since the military defeat of the terrorist militia, especially in the Al-Hol camp controlled by Kurdish groups.

There were repeated reports that women, children and youth who still felt they belonged to IS were smuggled out of the camp in exchange for large sums of money. Of the dozens of IS women who have returned to Germany in recent years, many have been arrested and tried upon arrival. Some of them came with their children from Syria through return campaigns to Germany, others were deported or returned on their own.

IS has controlled large parts of Syria and Iraq for years. In June 2014, he proclaimed a so-called caliphate and claimed leadership in global jihad. The extremists have now lost their reign again. However, IS cells are still active in both countries.
