On Sunday morning, ten high-performance cars raced on the A81 in Germany. Among them were two Audis that slowed Autobahn traffic at Hilzingen to 60 kilometers per hour and then drove an illegal race.
All ten cars had Swiss license plates, the “Südkurier” reports. The police speak of numerous traffic violations.
Cars with more than 400 hp
After the race, the Audis would have driven towards Stuttgart. In Rottweil, the police were able to control a 570 hp R8 and a 400 hp RS3.
However, the cars were not seized. According to the police headquarters in Konstanz, the public prosecutor has refrained from taking immediate action. So the Swiss were allowed to pass. Nevertheless, criminal prosecution is pending for endangering road traffic.
Now the police want to collect information about the eight other drivers. Photos and videos are also helpful, explains Chief Superintendent Harald Klaiber of the Constance Presidency’s Management and Situation Center.
Not the first time
It is not the first time that the Swiss cause a sensation on the A81. At the beginning of May, two other speeders with Swiss license plates drove in a race there. One of the cars was so tuned that it was stopped after the inspection. The public prosecutor sentenced the two to several thousand euros in security.
It remains to be seen how high the penalty will be for the current Raser team. (lia)
