He is one of those who know what is really going on in the war in Ukraine: General Vadim Skibitski. He is the second most powerful military intelligence commander in Ukraine. In an interview with “La Repubblica” he talked about his work.
Killing Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin (70) is target number one. Skibitsky claims it hasn’t worked out so far because Putin is hiding: “He’s just now starting to stick his head out again, and if he does, we’re not sure if he really is.”
He suspects that Putin is afraid: “He notices that we are getting closer to him, but maybe he is also afraid of being killed by his own people.” Because the Kremlin boss also has many opponents in Russia, the general says: “In my opinion, the Russians are at war with each other, they are fighting for their own takeover of power.”
Putin is not the only target
The Ukrainians also target numerous other powerful figures. For example, Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin (60) and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu are on the hit list. “And that’s not the end,” said the general.
“If an important figure produces and finances weapons for the Russians, eliminating them would save the lives of many civilians. And then he will be wiped out,” Skibitski threatens.
Unit commanders, who give orders to attack, are also targeted. It is unclear how many there are. However, the secret service knows their positions at the front very well.
Logistical attacks planned
The Secret Service also specifically destroys important trade routes and ammunition depots for the Russians. Skibitski says, “We must disarm the enemy before they arrive.” In April, for example, a fuel depot on the Russian-annexed Crimean peninsula was set on fire.
The general continues that the port of Mariupol must become an important point in Russian war logistics. He threatens: “If there is fuel, weapons and ammunition there, it will be destroyed.”
However, a counter-attack with enriched uranium is unrealistic for Skibitski. He says it’s just scare tactics: “They say they have the most powerful and technically advanced weapons, but that’s just a fairy tale.” According to Skibitski, the sanctions would even create a shortage of missile parts in Russia.
“Negotiating with them will be very difficult”
They do not want to talk about a peace treaty until they have reconquered their national borders. But negotiations to demilitarize the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant are underway, says Skibitski: “We believe they should be demilitarized and a security zone should be created around them.”
Although Russia would agree, it would refuse to withdraw its soldiers. “There must be a guarantor who ensures that the agreements are fulfilled,” said the general. Because the distrust on both sides is great. (Mrs)
