The senior was threatened with a knife and locked in his own bathroom for two days.

As the police in the Hanseatic city announced on Wednesday, he threatened the senior with a knife, physically attacked him and locked him in his own bathroom. The still unknown robber then spent two nights in the house before releasing his victim.

Intruder asked for shelter

According to the detectives, the perpetrator caught the 83-year-old on Sunday in an allotment garden in the Gröpelingen district after approaching him and asking for shelter once. The plot owner agreed and ushered the initially friendly young man into the house. There, however, he drew a knife, punched and kicked his elderly victim, and also threatened to kill him.

Killed the victim’s dog

While the 83-year-old was held captive in his own bathroom, police said the intruder killed his dog, presumably because the animal was too restless. The perpetrator only released the homeowner on Tuesday, but stole his jewelry, wallet and a scooter. Shortly afterwards, the victim managed to alert passers-by.

Due to his injury, the allotment gardener was admitted to a hospital as an inpatient. According to the police, the fugitive suspect is a young man between 20 and 25 years old. The investigation was still ongoing and the officers asked witnesses for information about suspicious sightings.
