In total, a total of 15 objects were searched in the morning from about 07:00, as announced by the Munich public prosecutor’s office and the Bavarian criminal investigation department.

The background to this is numerous criminal prosecutions since the middle of last year. The charge is formation or support of a criminal organization. The seven suspects are between 22 and 38 years old.

The central allegation in connection with the searches is that the suspects organized a fundraiser to fund further crimes for the last generation and reportedly raised at least €1.4 million.

In addition, at the request of the prosecutor, the group’s website was seized and closed, a police spokesman said. According to the police, about 170 officers have been deployed nationwide. According to initial information, the searches were peaceful.

The latest generation repeatedly disrupts traffic in Germany with blockades and adhesive tape to draw attention to their demands for faster and stricter climate protection. The group is calling on politicians to come up with a plan to meet the 1.5 degree target to avoid the worst effects of global warming. (sda/dpa)
