Yevgeny Prigozhin apparently intends to leave Ukraine with his mercenaries.

Stagnation during the invasion, fear of a counter-offensive and even quarrels with the Kremlin: there are some indications that Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin is withdrawing from Ukraine. The nut he has to crack for Putin is too hard and the prospects of holding a post of power in Russia or Ukraine are too slim.

With the powers released, Prigozhin is likely to expand his influence in several African states. His goal: to expand his vast criminal empire to mine mineral resources, recruit workers and new soldiers. Megalomaniac 007 villains like Dr. No, Goldfinger and Stromberg are fiction. Prigozhin is reality.

A withdrawal of the Wagner mercenaries from the Ukraine would be a stage victory for Kiev and the West. But the Russian war in Ukraine is just one of many scenes. Africa is increasingly becoming a problem area. The West would do well not to lose sight of this continent with all its riches.
