In Salzburg, Austria, a bear collided with an ÖBB train on Tuesday morning and was killed. The animal was caught by a train near Schwarzach on Tuesday morning, the state administration said. According to initial findings, it was a brown bear.
After two train drivers reported a dead bear on the tracks to the police, the Salzburg state expert for bears and wolves went to the scene of the accident to take DNA samples. This should clarify the origin of the animal. Train traffic is not affected by the incident.
Most recently, a bear had been sighted in Salzburg in Grossgmain and Grödig near the border with Bavaria in recent weeks. (SDA)
