You want to stand out. One way or the other. And thus drawing the attention of the population to the growing threat of climate change: the activists of the «last generation».
Massive roadblocks, property damage and tape campaigns in busy streets – the activists shy away from little in the name of climate change. According to a report by “Welt”, the “Last Organization” is now planning the next coup: Glue campaigns will apparently be intensified in the coming weeks and months, the newspaper writes, citing secret documents from the activists. The activists target the super rich.
“Waste of Modern Wealth”
The planned campaign, which will start in Bavaria on June 5, aims to draw attention to the “reckless waste of modern wealth”. The German government also gets its fat in the newspapers, after all, the federal government supports these rich people. The document does not reveal exactly what action the “last generation” intends to take against the super-rich.
After the empires of Germany are defeated, things continue seamlessly: more campaigns are planned in Bavaria in August. And from September, large-scale campaigns will follow in Berlin to bring about a “social turnaround”, as the newspaper says.
According to “Focus”, Berlin mayor Kai Wegner (50) has already announced that he wants to take action against the activists. He is having a legal review of the extent to which the activists can be asked to pay for the damage they cause. Wegner says he is determined to free Berlin from “hostage-taking by the demonstrators”.
Swiss activists block Geneva airport
In Switzerland, too, activists repeatedly demonstrate for the climate – and thus regularly cause discontent. Their latest joke: on Tuesday, dozens of members of the Greenpeace and Extinction Rebellion organizations occupied the runway at Geneva airport.
The background: Private jets are currently on display in Geneva as part of the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition. The activists, including members of the international network Stay Grounded, are calling for a ban on private jets to combat climate change. (chs)
