A man allegedly rammed his pickup into a security barrier near the White House in Washington, DC. The driver was arrested Monday evening (local time).
This has been announced by the Secret Service, which is responsible for the security of US President Joe Biden. No one was injured. American media reported, based on eyewitnesses, that a flag with a swastika had been seized on the spot. The man also made threats against the White House.
The driver drove the small truck into the barrier twice just a few hundred yards from the White House, an eyewitness told CNN about the incident, which occurred shortly before 10 p.m. (local time) on Monday. The man was arrested, among other things, on suspicion of wanting to kill, kidnap or injure the president, vice president or a family member, broadcaster NBC reports on the basis of the police.
