Columns of smoke over the Graivoron border post in southwestern Russia: who is behind the
Confusion in Russia: A border post on the border with Ukraine is said to have been attacked. A group of alleged partisans has confessed.

In Russia, an attack was reportedly carried out this morning at a checkpoint of the border guard. Photos published on the Internet showed several large columns of smoke over the area of the Graivoron border crossing on the border with Ukraine. An alleged partisan group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The “Legion Freedom for Russia” published a video in which uniformed and armed men speak in Russian for an overthrow of Putin’s regime. The narrator in the video claims: “We are Russians like you. We want our children to grow up in peace and freedom.”

The group claimed on Twitter that the village of Kozinka had been completely liberated and that units had entered the village of Graivoron. However, these claims cannot be verified.

Belgorod region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said a Ukrainian sabotage group has crossed the border. The Russian army, the secret service (FSB) and the border guard are working to eliminate the intruder.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of Ukraine’s defense intelligence agency, told CNN: “We can confirm that this operation was carried out by Russian citizens. These actions are in the wake of increased Russian cross-border attacks, which have resulted in casualties and destruction.”

It is unclear who is behind the group and whether they are actually opponents of the Russian regime. (cma/t-online.de)
