Ten people were killed and nine injured in a shooting in Mexico.

Deadly shooting in northern Mexico: An unknown perpetrator opened fire at a gas station in the city of Ensenada on Saturday, killing 10 people, according to the Ensenada city government. 9 others were injured in the shooting.

The incident allegedly took place at a car show. Officials said city and state police, marines, firefighters and the Mexican Red Cross, among others, rushed to the scene of the shooting.

Is the shooting the result of a cartel dispute?

Footage of the incident circulating on social media showed people walking around confused and reacting. There were also some wounded on the ground. The Times of San Diego, citing the director of the Agencia Fronteriza de Noticias (Border Intelligence Agency), said the shooting was “due to a fight between the CJNG (cartel) and the Sinaloa Cartel.”

In a separate message, the organizers of the two-day event extended their condolences to those affected by the tragedy, adding that “unfortunately, what happened on the tour was beyond our control”. “We are as baffled as all of you because we have nothing to do with the events,” the message read.
