Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is about to become a father again. “We will have a new team member coming in a few weeks,” his wife Carrie Johnson announced on Instagram on Friday. In one photo she can be seen holding hands with her two first children, Wilfred and Romy. For Boris Johnson, the new brood will be the eighth child.

Son Wilfred is “really excited to be a big brother again and talks about it all the time,” Carrie Johnson said. Daughter Romy probably doesn’t know what to expect, “but soon”.

Wilfred was born in April 2020, shortly after Boris Johnson was in intensive care due to corona disease. Romy was born in December 2021 when Boris Johnson was still prime minister.

The following summer he was forced to resign following an uprising in his Conservative Party over numerous scandals, including partying in Downing Street during the coronavirus lockdown.

While still a Tory MP, Johnson is rarely seen in the House of Commons. He is married for the third time.

He has four children with his second wife, attorney Marina Wheeler. With his current wife Carrie, former media adviser to his party, he now has child number three. He has another daughter from an extramarital relationship.

In September 2021, shortly before daughter Romy was born and after years of speculation about the number of his children, Johnson confirmed in an interview with the American television network NBC that he currently has six children.
