In Berlin, activists of the ‘last generation’ have again caused a stir. The activists staged a protest on Highway 100 at an exit. The affected motorists did not like it at all: some reacted violently.
As one DPA photographer noted, some punched and kicked the activists to keep them from sticking to the pavement.
According to the police, activists of the last generation blocked traffic in the morning at eleven locations in Berlin. This kind of protest with sticking to the road surface has already led to misunderstanding in politics. Some voices are calling for the police to take tougher action against the activists and for tougher sentences.
Activists deliberately obstruct holiday traffic
On Thursday, activists of the last generation had already protested at 14 locations in Berlin for stricter political measures against climate change. According to the climate group, the blockades were deliberately aimed at keeping holiday traffic out of the city.
“We really don’t like being yelled at and towed away by drivers,” the group wrote on Twitter on Friday. “But the government’s negligence in the face of the threat of crop failure, war and social unrest is forcing us to take to the streets.” (SDA/dzc)
