Authorities were shown this photo after the horror crash in Lengerich. The BMW wreck completely burned out.

A horrific accident took place in Lengerich in the German state of Lower Saxony on Wednesday evening. Shortly after 10 p.m., a BMW X3 flies off Highway 60 on a right turn and crashes into a tree.

The crash tore the car in two. The father, according to the newspaper “Bild”, a 42-year-old man from Lengerich, is thrown from the car and dies on the spot.

The wreckage of the BMW immediately starts to burn. The man’s son († 12) is trapped in the car wreck. The rescuers can only save him dead.

No accident black spot

As the “Bild” reports, citing investigators, authorities currently believe the man entered the bend at far too high a speed. The BMW X3 would have driven up to 200 kilometers per hour.

According to the newspaper, serious accidents always happen on Landstrasse 60. However, the right turn is not a black mark.

Wild animal as a cause?

However, it is unclear why the BMW wreck went up in flames so quickly. Investigators are now investigating the wreck. The course of the accident is also being investigated in detail.

Heavy skid marks on the spot can also be a sign that the BMW had to avoid a wild animal on the road. In Lengerich deer always walk the dark country roads. The investigations are still in progress.
