In the US state of Colorado, a curious story occurred: a driver apparently was in a hurry and stepped hard on the accelerator. Normally, this behavior only results in a fine.
The problem: the man was also drunk. That is why he resorted to a creative method, the police write on Facebook. As officers pulled the man out, one of the officers saw the American fiddling around in the car before getting out on the passenger side.
The man told police he was not driving. On the contrary, his dog got behind the wheel – and blamed the excessive speed on the four-legged friend.
He started an escape attempt
“The man showed clear signs of alcohol consumption and when asked about it, he tried to flee,” the police said. This came to an abrupt end after 20 meters.
After being taken to hospital for examination, the traffic offender was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and driving with limited driving ability, as well as other arrest warrants.
The Facebook post from the police ends with a smile. The authority writes: “As long as he is in prison, the animal could be placed with friends of the American. The dog is not being prosecuted and has been released with a warning.” (A)
