Pope Francis has expressed his condolences to the victims of the sometimes dramatic floods in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna and their families. The head of the Catholic Church is praying for the deceased and their families, who have also been affected by the “massive catastrophe,” said in a telegram to Bologna Archbishop Matteo Maria Zuppi on Thursday. He also asks for “consolation for the injured and those suffering from the consequences of the serious accident”.
The pope also thanked all those who are “trying to help and alleviate suffering in these particularly difficult hours”. He sends the apostolic blessing to people as a sign of the special spiritual bond.
