The court there has convicted five young men of the Berlin Remmo clan for the theft of jewelery from the Green Vault in the East German city of Dresden.
Judges on Tuesday handed down prison sentences ranging from four years and four months to six years and three months.
The art theft from the Treasury Museum of Saxony on November 25, 2019 is under consideration one of the most spectacular thefts in Germany. The perpetrators stole 21 jewelry made of diamonds and brilliants Total value of 116.8 million euros and caused more than a million euros in damage. They had set fire to a power distribution box in the old town and a getaway car in the underground parking garage of a residential building to cover their tracks.
Most of the loot was returned shortly before Christmas 2022, but some of it was damaged.
