French President Emmanuel Macron promised last night more military aid to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky during a working dinner at the Elysee Palace. Macron has promised to train more Ukrainian soldiers and deliver dozens of armored vehicles and light tanks to Kiev to help Kiev counterattack the Russian military.

Macron was ready to provide “political, financial, humanitarian and military support to Ukraine as much as necessary, individually and through international cooperation with the European Union, NATO, the United Nations and other organizations”. “In the coming weeks, France will form and equip several (Ukrainian) battalions with dozens armored vehicles and light tanksincluding the AMX-10RC,” Paris and Kyiv said in a joint statement.

France will also continue to support Ukrainian air defense capabilities and train Ukrainian soldiers. France has set a goal for 2023 train 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers in France and 4,000 in Poland, where it deployed more than 200 soldiers for this purpose, writes the French press.

withdrawal from Moscow

Paris and Kiev again demanded that Russia withdraw all its military forces from the territory of Ukraine, “to its recognized international borders, immediately, completely and unconditionally”. They also demanded Moscow’s withdrawal from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, because it believes that “the irresponsible takeover and militarization by the Russian army represents a serious threat.”

Zelenski’s visit to Paris is part of his European tour, which took him to Italy and Germany over the weekend. On Monday, the Ukrainian president will travel to London, where he plans to meet with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
