Ternopil – a city in western Ukraine that barely made headlines during the war. But on Saturday night, two “Kalibr” missiles hit the international airport.

The bombing took place shortly before the ESC performance of the Ukrainian duo “Tvorchi”. Their birthplace? ternopil.

Two people injured

Two people were injured by debris at the airport. The bombing set fire to a warehouse and a building belonging to a religious organization. The chairman of the regional council, Mikhail Holovko, confirmed the bombing. Authorities called on residents to go to shelters.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian duo Andrij Huzuljak and Jimoh Augustus Kehinde put on an impressive performance in Liverpool. They had previously announced that winning is not their goal, but that they want to represent Ukraine in the best possible way.

“Unite Against Evil!”

They responded to the bombing with an Instagram post. “Ternopil is the name of our hometown that was bombed by Russia as we sang on the Eurovision stage about our hearts of steel, our toughness and our will.”

And further: «This is a message to all cities of Ukraine that are shelled daily: Kharkiv, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Kiev, Zaporizhia, Uman, Sumy, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Kherson and all others. Europe, unite against evil for peace!” (new)
