Airport operator Fraport counted about 4.8 million passengers at Germany’s largest aviation hub last month, 21.5 percent more than a year earlier, announced Friday in Frankfurt.
The volume was 20 percent lower than before the pandemic in April 2019. In March, the backlog was around 23 percent. For the full year, passenger numbers in Frankfurt are expected to rise to around 80 to 90 percent of the 2019 record level, according to Fraport’s management.
In the freight sector, however, the volume of freight and air mail fell again in April. At 154,926 tonnes, it was 8.5 percent lower than a year earlier.
