Pie-throwing and nudity: Climate and human rights activists disrupt VW meeting

Climate and human rights groups disrupted the VW group’s annual general meeting in Berlin yesterday, May 10. There was several stutters, nuisance with banners, a performance with bare skin and an (unwanted) birthday present. More about this in the video:

Sustainability and social compatibility were an important topic in the speeches of VW chairman Hans Dieter Pötsch and CEO Oliver Blume. Yet, in the eyes of the activists, the group is not doing enough. For example, one of the demands was that VW was not allowed to produce in the Chinese province of Xinjiang, where the Uyghur ethnic minority group is systematically oppressed. The activists drew attention to this with banners and loud cheers. (lzo)
