“We are prepared for the possibility of extensive deployment and heavy strikes against Gaza.”

He said this to council leaders in the south of the country on Wednesday, according to his office.

The Israeli army on Wednesday again attacked targets of the militant Palestinian organization Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, five Palestinians, including a 14-year-old, were killed in the attacks. About 20 people were injured.

The Israeli air force had already killed three senior members of the Islamic Jihad on Tuesday night. A total of 13 people, including children, have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in the coastal strip.

The Israeli army justified the military strike in recent weeks with several attacks from the Gaza Strip.

Several groups in the Gaza Strip responded with massive rocket fire at Israel on Wednesday. There was a missile alert in the Tel Aviv area.

The attacks are in response to the “carnage” by the “Zionist occupation,” a Hamas spokesman said. A Jihadi spokesman said there was agreement on how to respond to Israel’s “killing”. It was initially unclear whether Hamas, the Palestinian organization that rules the Gaza Strip, was actually involved in the latest attacks.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad are classified as terrorist organizations by the US, EU and Israel. Both groups have taken on the cause of Israel’s destruction. Islamic Jihad is considered even more radical than Hamas.
