As the American news medium “CBS News” reports, referring to the results of the autopsy, cardiovascular diseases were the cause of death. Fats, cholesterol and other substances would have clogged the vessels in and on the vessel walls. In addition, Liotta was diagnosed with pulmonary edema.
The autopsy was performed on May 26, 2022 at 3:22 PM. Based on the physical signs, authorities believe the actor died about eight to 10 hours earlier.
“Goodfellas” brought the breakthrough
At the time of his death, Liotta was in the Dominican Republic. There he shot his new film «Dangerous Waters».
He became known in 1990 with the mafia epic “Godfellas” by director Martin Scorsese. Here he played together with Robert de Niro. He shot “Field of Dreams” with Kevin Costner, the crime thriller “Killing Them Softly” with Brad Pitt and the drama “The Place Beyond the Pines” with Ryan Gosling.
In one of his most recent roles, Liotta appeared in front of director Banks’ camera in the thriller comedy «Cocaine Bear». The film about a black bear who consumed a large amount of cocaine, based on a true story in the 1980s, was released in American cinemas in late February and premiered in Germany in April.
Meanwhile, Liotta has also received one of the famous stars on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”. The actor’s daughter, Karsen Liotta, was on hand for her father’s unveiling in Los Angeles in February – nine months after his death.
