A fight is said to have broken out in front of the Soviet memorial in Berlin’s Tiergarten on Sunday afternoon.

A 47-year-old assaulted a 45-year-old and insulted him anti-Semitically, “Spiegel” reports.

Dispute about the war in Ukraine

According to police, the victim was traveling with a woman carrying a Ukrainian flag on her back. The 47-year-old would have stayed with family and acquaintances at the memorial.

An argument ensued between the two men. Initially, the two had a heated argument about the war in Ukraine. The situation escalated soon after.

According to the report, the 47-year-old allegedly hit the other man. Other members of his group also pulled at the victim’s clothing until he was on the ground.

Finally, a police officer had to intervene to separate the two brawlers. The police officer was accidentally kicked in the groin by the victim.

Victim suffered a head injury

But the discussion didn’t stop there. The 47-year-old is said to have insulted the victim in an anti-Semitic manner. The victim resisted alone.

According to the police, the 45-year-old sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital for outpatient treatment. The policeman also had to be treated. The police state protection has now launched an investigation into the incident. (ceded)
