A school class from Berlin had to end their class camp at the Frauensee in the state of Brandenburg on Sunday evening.
The reason: According to a report in the “Berliner Zeitung”, the students aged 15 and 16 were racially insulted.
Immigrant students offended
According to police, the class had gone to the lake for a weekend to relax and prepare for an upcoming math test.
But nothing came of that. Because a group of young people who had traveled from the region to celebrate a birthday at the lake had targeted the students.
Some students with a migration background are said to have been racially insulted several times. “We’ll knock you out, you Kanaks”, the young people are said to have shouted, among other things.
Escorted with two police cars
The young people would even have tried to break into the accommodation of the school class at night. A teacher informed the parents of the children about the incident. For safety reasons, it was decided to end the lesson early.
That same night, the class broke up their tents. The concerned parents had to pick up their children from daycare around 3 a.m. The group was escorted from the camp grounds in two police cars.
Authorities have launched an investigation into xenophobic insults and threats, a police spokesman said. (ceded)
