Charles III is now officially king. The 74-year-old was crowned in London on Saturday. Millions of people watched as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s son was proclaimed king in a two-hour ceremony.
A number of people also gathered on the site to experience this event up close. Westminster Abbey itself held about 2,300 people, including members of the British royal family, but also royals from other countries such as Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Prince Albert II came with his wife Charlène, the Swedish king Carl XVI. Gustaf was accompanied by his daughter, Crown Princess Victoria. Maria and Frederik of Denmark also attended the ceremony.
But not only members of the individual royal houses were present, also well-known faces from the show industry. Pop singer Katy Perry appeared in the church an hour and a half before the start of the coronation ceremony.
The 38-year-old arrived in a short-sleeved pink suit with matching gloves and a striking large hat. She combined a purple corsage and a beautiful pearl necklace.
A video is currently circulating on Twitter showing Katy Perry confused and looking for her seat in Westminster Abbey. “Have you ever been this lost?” one user asked, for example. She herself tweeted shortly after the coronation: “Don’t worry, I’ve found my niche.”

Musician Lionel Richie also attended the ceremony for King Charles III. and Queen Camilla present. The 73-year-old will perform with Katy Perry at the coronation concert on Sunday.
