Eight people were killed in a shooting in the Serbian village of Dubona near Mladenovac, about 60 kilometers south of the capital Belgrade. 13 others are injured, some of them life-threatening.
The police are jointly searching for the alleged perpetrator Uros B.* (21). Officials cordoned off entire villages and searched every inch, writes ‘Blic’, among others.
As the Serbian “Telegraf” writes, there would have been a dispute between Uros B. and a group of people in a schoolyard in Mladenovac. Uros B. then shot people haphazardly from his car with an automatic submachine gun.
Gunman still armed
After the massacre, B. fled in a Mercedes. It is not clear where he currently resides. According to the “Telegraph”, Uros B. would have been the son of a soldier. He had attracted negative attention before.
Police suspect the shooter is still armed. On the spot, police blocked the road to the villages of Malo Orasje and Dubona, a photographer told AFP news agency.
Numerous police and rescue vehicles were deployed and helicopters circled the area. Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic described the act as a “terrorist act”. (zis/AFP)
