Her parents have been looking for Maddie McCann for 16 years.

Maddie McCann’s parents still hope to see their daughter again. The little girl disappeared in 2007 and to this day there is no trace of her. Kate and Gerry McCann continue to miss their daughter, who would be almost 20 today, they wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

Maddie’s siblings, twins Amelie and Sean (both 18), have rarely been out in public. Neither of them ever said anything – until now. Amelie broke her silence at a memorial service in Rothley, Leicestershire, England, the family’s hometown. “It’s nice that everyone came, but it’s a sad event,” she said. She then lit a candle for her sister. Brother Sean did not attend the memorial service and remains silent.

Did Christian B. hurt Maddie?

On May 3, 2007, then three-year-old Maddie disappeared from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal. The parents had left Madeleine and her younger siblings alone in the apartment so they could have dinner with friends at a nearby restaurant. Her mother later discovered that the patio door was open and Maddie’s bed was empty.

The German Christian B.* is suspected of having done something to Maddie. Recently, however, a lawsuit broke out because the court in Braunschweig did not declare itself responsible for the case. B. is not released despite the lifting of the arrest warrant issued against him. Because: He is currently in prison for a rape. (nad)
